Camo Tarps
Camo tarps, or camouflage tarps, are common outdoor canopies. Although used for a variety of outdoor activities, camo tarps are used most often for camping and hunting and are commonly used in the military for wooded areas. While camo tarps are available usually as both heavy duty and medium duty poly tarps, medium duty is the most common of camo tarps, as these tarps are often used for temporary protection outside. For sheltering items from wood to supplies and artillery, camo tarps are adequate enough to cover any object outdoors and protect it temporarily.
What sets camo tarps apart from other tarps is its composition. A camo tarp is made of two different colors of polyethylene, with the camouflage printed polyethylene on top and a solid dark green color below. This applies to both medium duty and heavy duty camo tarps, although the camouflage side should always be pointing up. A camo tarp is used for many of the same purposes as a blue tarp, hence why it is often available as a medium duty poly tarp, but a camo tarp is used in instances that the objects needing coverage also need to be hidden in a wooded area. In addition, heavy duty and medium duty camo tarps have the same protective properties as many other colored tarps, including a waterproof surface, UV resistance, abrasion and tear resistance, and rot and mildew resistance.
Outdoor uses are the primary use for camo tarps. When you need to blend it with the surroundings, typically that of a wooded area, a camo tarp is ideal and, as a result, the most common uses for camo tarps are in camping, hunting, and paintball. The purpose of camo tarps is camouflage, and, in these instances, the tarps are arranged to camouflage people and their things, be it hunting or camping supplies. For camping, medium duty camo tarps are used to protect the tent and cover any supplies and, in hunting, camo tarps are used in a similar fashion, only a fort-like structure, rather than a sloped protective cover over a tent, is used in hunting. Supplies in hunting may also be covered by camo tarps to have guns and camping supplies appear less conspicuous to animals in a wooded area. Paintball, as it has the same format as hunting, only no animals are killed, uses camo tarps in much the same way as hunting to hide and camouflage players.
Camo tarps are also common in the army and military, particularly if troops are stationed in a wooded area. When troops aren’t stationed in a wooded or green area, camo tarps are used in training exercises for the army to hide artillery and make troops less visible, similar to how camo tarps are used in hunting and paintball.
