Clear tarps are often made from vinyl. As the strongest material available, vinyl provides the durability needed for strenuous applications, such as on a truck or long-term protection. Vinyl tarps, in general, are used on flatbed trucks; as the material experiences a significant amount of wear and tear through stretching, wind whip, and other factors, a high degree of resistance is needed. Clear vinyl tarps sold through Tarps1 have the highest thickness available, and are ideal for use on trucks to protect a load of wood or asphalt or in other long-term outdoor applications.

Although clear vinyl tarps are perfect for nearly all heavy-duty outdoor applications, the transparent material is ideal for greenhouses. An affordable alternative to constructing a shelter with metal and glass from the ground up, portable greenhouses have the same composition as an outdoor canopy – a heavy-duty polyethylene tarp and a galvanized steel frame anchored into the ground. Clear tarps give a portable greenhouse a traditional appearance, and the strength of the vinyl or polyethylene material keeps in the heat the plants need in colder months.

All vinyl and polyethylene material is treated to be waterproof, UV resistant, rot proof, and mildew resistant, and when used for long-term storage, these tarps allow for air circulation underneath, preventing the building of mildew, dry rot, and mold below.
