Plastic Tarps
It is no secret that tarps are incredibly useful; if you use them regularly, you may use them to cover your car to keep it protected from the sun or to cover your roof if you notice a leak during a particularly harsh summer rain storm. You may thing that once winter rolls around that it is time to stow your tarps away for the season and wait for next year. But tarps can actually be quite handy through these snowy and cold months. So before cleaning your tarps and folding them up for the season, learn a bit more about why you may just want to keep them on hand where they can easily be reached at a moment's notice.
When people think of using the tarps in the winter months, their minds may first wander to stopping leaks that snow may cause; because it has not started snowing yet you may want to use your plastic tarps for other outdoor purposes. Firstly, the leaves have started falling off the trees and your tarp will come in handy when raking up. You can easily rake the leaves onto a plastic tarp and then drag the tarp to your compost pile or to the curb for pickup. If you garden well into the fall, you can also use a lightweight plastic tarp to keep your garden covered overnight to prevent it from frosting over.
Once the snow does hit, you will find your plastic tarp even more useful. If you discover a leak in your roof and you're not able to get it fixed immediately, you can use a tarp to cover the hole or to capture the water until you can get someone in your home to fix it. Tarps are also great for projects that you must complete indoors but would normally be completed outdoors. If you are painting a piece of furniture and you don't want to get paint all over your garage floor, simply lay down a tarp beforehand and clean up will be a breeze.
Your plastic tarps will keep you covered this winter in more ways than you may think. If you already have plastic tarps that you were using through the summer months, keep them out, and if you need to stock up on new plastic tarps to prepare, now is the time to do it.
