White Tarps
Tarps come in several colors, and each one has a specific purpose. Brighter tarps, such as those in orange and yellow, are needed for visibility, while others, such as green, brown, or camouflage, have the opposite effect and are used, instead, for blending in. Other tarps, such as silver and white, have reflective properties, which make them ideal for longer outdoor use. White tarps, in particular, are designed with no sun blocker material. As a result, the material provides UV resistance and keeps objects inside or under cool.
The sun blocker comes in the form of a black polyethylene center layer, which can be found in silver tarps. All polyethylene sheets are created from three layers, and white tarps, while being reflective, won't keep as much heat in. In addition, white tarps are treated to be waterproof and rot, mold, and mildew resistant. The material is heavy-duty and has a 12x12 weave, with a weight of six ounces.
When it comes to use, white tarps are ideal for various outdoor applications. Typically, heavy-duty white tarps are used for covering seasonal vehicles, such as boats or RVs, for several months. The tarp, in this case, will cover the vehicle directly or will be part of a canopy shelter. Aside from this, a white tarp is often used as part of an outdoor canopy or awning, as it won't overheat the space below.
Aside from polyethylene, vinyl is another common material for white tarps. As the strongest material available, vinyl is often used for truck tarps. The white color, in this case, is also reflective and keeps the object being covered cooler. White vinyl tarps are designed to be fire retardant and, when used on a truck, keep any object below from being exposed to water.
No matter if you need white tarps in vinyl or polyethylene, sizes for the material range from 8x10 square feet to 50x100 square feet.
